BIT held Intel vPro ™ training
On 6th of August, the company BIT held Intel vPro ™ training. The guest speaker was Dariusz Wittek, the company`s Intel EMEA Technical team member – one of the four Intel solution architects in Europe. Dariusz Wittek specializes in enterprise PC management and security solutions.
The aim of this training was to provide technical knowledge for BIT engineers to work with Intel vPro ™ technology and using a management solution for Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2012 R2. For example, what are the things that you need to pay attention when starting a configuration process, what needs to be followed to ensure that management solutions work without failures. During the seminar, instructor provided various tips, which may be useful to reduce the possible errors to a minimum.
In IT market there are several personal computers management solutions, which are based on software “agents” that are installed on the computer operating systems. This approach allows to accomplish most of the computer maintenance necessary action, except cases when computer is turned off or the operating system is damaged. In situations like this, to resolve the problem, IT help desk employees need to arrive at the location of the device. It creates losses to the company because of users forced downtime and increase the cost of technical support. The biggest impact are on businesses whose “users” stationed in several, small branches, located at a considerable distance from the technical service location.
Intel vPro ™ is a package of a hardware and software level technology, which is available in Intel personal computers, whose configuration includes vPro ™ supportive motherboards, processors and network cards. One of Intel® vPro ™ technology – Intel Active Management Technology (AMT) gives the ability to manage vPro ™ supportive personal computers remotely and centrally even if the computer is off or the operating system is not on the agenda. Help desk employees can remotely connect to computer, diagnose and resolve problems more quickly, thus significantly reduces the “user” downtime. Thanks to the AMT technology, IT staff can make the necessary action with personal computer operating system and software (install, update etc.) outside working hours (at weekends and nights). Centralized management solution for personal computers, according to a predefined schedule, will independently turn on the computer, perform the necessary work and them it will turn off the computer, thus not only saves technical employees time , but also significantly reducing the personal computer power consumption costs.
These are just a few examples from all advantages of Intel® vPro ™ technology use and benefits. Besides all the above, Intel vPro ™ technology reduces the risks related to the company’s information loss, improves personal computers security from “viruses” and other unwanted software.
